First Scale You Should Learn on Guitar | Guitar Tricks
This is the first scale you should learn on guitar and it's the open E minor pentatonic scale, sometimes referred to as the G major pentatonic scale.
This is a great scale to learn because it can be played with all of the open strings, meaning you only need two fingers to play this scale. You can also incorporate this scale with a bunch of open chords you already know.
Gary is going to show you how to practice this scale by showing you the pattern and then playing it with a metronome. The idea is to be able to play the entire scale slowly before you ramp it up to a higher speed.
If this is your first scale, give it a try! It's also a great scale to practice hammer ons and pull offs.
